Anything Goes 2010! . . . and now its time to sleep! Print

At the end of February most of our Venturers got away for the weekend to join about 500 other Venturers from around the state at AG- Anything Goes 2010. Though it definitely took a little longer than it should have to get to Lardner Park in Drouin, we finally arrived and set up our camp - real scouting style, with a proper eating shelter for the first time in Venturers, and it was obvious a few of us had forgotten how set one up!

The whole weekend was packed full of activities for those who wanted to get into it, though totally chilled for those who didn’t feel the need, and only wanted to relax. Usually this ‘relaxing’ involved eating. And a lot of it.

Some of the offsite activities included water-skiing, surfing, four-wheel-driving, and horse-riding, and even if you didn’t feel like leaving the camp you could enjoy things like laser-tag, bouncing castle obstacle courses, rock climbing, and  ice-blocking.

Most of these were available way on into the evening, but if you happened to get bored, after dinner we had a good old barn yard band that entertained us while we tried to learn the dances to match the music. Though most enjoyed the old-fashioned hoe-down, obviously it wasn’t for all. That’s why later on you could get back to the 21st century with our own DJ. Many Venturers where up dancing until one or two in the morning.

Our whole unit seemed to enjoy the weekend just a little too much, as we all came back dead tired. I can understand why though- not only did we have all these activities to wear us down, but most of us also got to catch up with our many friends from NZ Venture, leaving very little time for sleep, but proving AG was yet again one of our favourite camps of the year.
