Anything Goes 2010! . . . and now its time to sleep! |
At the end of February most of our Venturers got away for the weekend to join about 500 other Venturers from around the state at AG- Anything Goes 2010. Though it definitely took a little longer than it should have to get to Lardner Park in Drouin, we finally arrived and set up our camp - real scouting style, with a proper eating shelter for the first time in Venturers, and it was obvious a few of us had forgotten how set one up! The whole weekend was packed full of activities for those who wanted to get into it, though totally chilled for those who didn’t feel the need, and only wanted to relax. Usually this ‘relaxing’ involved eating. And a lot of it. Some of the offsite activities included water-skiing, surfing, four-wheel-driving, and horse-riding, and even if you didn’t feel like leaving the camp you could enjoy things like laser-tag, bouncing castle obstacle courses, rock climbing, and ice-blocking. Most of these were available way on into the evening, but if you happened to get bored, after dinner we had a good old barn yard band that entertained us while we tried to learn the dances to match the music. Though most enjoyed the old-fashioned hoe-down, obviously it wasn’t for all. That’s why later on you could get back to the 21st century with our own DJ. Many Venturers where up dancing until one or two in the morning. Our whole unit seemed to enjoy the weekend just a little too much, as we all came back dead tired. I can understand why though- not only did we have all these activities to wear us down, but most of us also got to catch up with our many friends from NZ Venture, leaving very little time for sleep, but proving AG was yet again one of our favourite camps of the year. It was a very wet weekend with lots of driving, rain, mud, spit-fires (like the little caterpillar things!) & good food. Much fun was had by all. A big thanks to the Caving team, especially Steve who was our guide for the weekend. Here are a few photos (click to enlarge). Photos Richard Scholes |

Lake Mountain Ski Trip |

Lake Mountain X-County Skiing Trip - 26th of July 2009 This day was a brilliant day for skiing, sunny at times but it never got too warm. The snow was pretty good, enough of it to have a great day out with your friends, doing what you enjoy. It started off with a very early morning and a drive up to the mountain with us all chatting together and singing along to the fantastic songs. When we got up to the mountain it was a beautiful sunny day with a spectacular place to park and almost no people on the mountain. Walking up to the start of the first slope you could feel the cool breeze on your face that very refreshing after the car ride. Putting on our skis and starting up the mountain we could feel the energy slowly pouring into our legs and arms to give us the boost to get up that first hill. After skiing those first few runs it was obvious the Richard out classed us but that didn |
